The PMC-54300 was first introduced on April 2004 at the Hannover Industrial Fair (HannoverMesse) and has started its mass production right after, on July 2004.
This machine controller card has been designed to provide a complete yet cost effective solution to machine manufacturers. The PMC-54300 PCI card is compatible with various operating systems and includes a wide and powerful software package with tools for making Point to Point operations, basic CNC (G-Code files) execution, HPGL converter and more. For advanced programmers the software package includes programming API (Windows DLLs) and Labview driver ( VIs ).
As a complete solution for machine control this controller include 8 Analog input channels, 4 Analog output channels, 2 Encoder inputs, 48 general user Digital I/O lines, 12 dedicated limit/reference lines and 8 Isolated Digital I/O special machine tasks.

Simple Easy and Logical Wiring Method
As a Series-5000 compatible product it shares a unique wiring method for effortless wiring. According to this method there is a single cables root that supports all the control signals, power lines and limit switches feed back signals. Special attention is given to the EMI/RFI environment, grounding and shielding at each and every level, leaving no room for user mistakes. Pre assembled cables and connectors combined motors are offered at a very reasonable price, enabling an easy and simple assembly at the fastest way.
Detailed wiring information is available for customers that wish to combine their own or third party non Series-5000 items.
Complete Isolated Solution
Unlike most of the comparable controllers available all of the PMC-54300 output motor signals, as well as all its motor feed back signals are isolated at the controller level.
This unique attitude leads to an excellent EMI/RFI performance, providing an ability to withstand an extreme hostile industrial environment.
Supporting up to 16 motors
While working with Series-5000 step motor drivers, the PMC-54300 has the ability of controlling up to 16 motors, 4 of them can be individually operated at the same time. The PMC-54300 makes an exceptional low cost solution for those cases where plenty of motors are being used for machine set up, and only few for the actual machining operation. Each motor has a complete and different registers set, including speed, position, operation method etc. Once a motor reached his destination and stopped, another motor can be operated. No switch to turn, no cable to connect, just sending a software command to another motor of same series.
Real Time Scaning Ability
The PMC-54300 includes a special high speed hardware facility that can acquire the position of one or two axes an update rate of several Nanoseconds.
This feature was implemented to enable mapping tasks, through an externally hooked sensor, via a TTL line.
The motor position is latched by the hardware facility, stored by the software, and is available for user's application for processing.
Acquiring Data & Commands from External Devices
The PMC-54300 software package includes routines for acquiring speed and position details from various optional external panels and devices, including the possibility of being remotely operated.
Digital Filters on Limit Lines
The PMC-54300 offers additional noise immunity feature made thorough its intelligent and flexible Digital Filters on all Limit Switches input lines. This feature is most important especially in a hostile Industrial environment, and can be used in case of long limit switch lines or poor wiring.
Enhanced Software Package
The PMC-54300 is bundled with a wide software package, making this controller suitable for various motion control applications such as Speed and Process control, Point to Point tasks, Machinery Settings, Machinery Control, HPGL and G-code based operation (CNC), Labview controlled tasks and Lab Automation.
